KITUI DEMOLITION- THE MP FINALLY SPEAKS OUT
It has been over a month now since the demolitions took effect in different parts of the country that are close to the Aircraft zones. The demolitions hit the headlines of many news media houses with the government claiming that those whose houses were being demolished had acquired land illegally. This stories later on proved to be just an lalaby that the Government was singing to the ears of those affected. The true story was because the houses posed a security threat to the aircraft bases due to the Operation Linda Nchi that is still on-going in Somalia.

Many people lost their valuables and property as bulldozers brought their beloved homes down in SYOKIMAU & EASTLEIGH. a commission was set up to investigate how the demolitions were carried out and those who authorised them.

Whats funny is that a poor small scale slum was ignored by the press and given no attention whatsoever. Kitui Slum, which is somehow considered part of Majengo, experieced the same fate as Syokimau, Eastleigh and Biafra. The Kenya Army demolished all housing structrers that lay next to the dormant airforce grounds. The fact that the fence was being constructed to protect the area clearly showed that the Kenya Airforce was not taking any chances when it came to security. The question that still, lingers in our heads is if those structures were truelly on the wrong side and if that land area around the fence perimeter of the dormant air force ground truly belongs to Kenya Air Force.

The area MP of Kamukunji Yussuf Hassan Abdi paid a visit to the demolished area yesterday and assesed the situation. It is yet unclear why it took him so long to come and why he came after the dIt has been over a month now since the demolitions took effect in different parts of the country that are close to the Aircraft zones. The area MP of Kamukunji Yussuf Hassan Abdi paid a visit to the demolished area yesterday and assesed the situation. It is yet unclear why it took him so long to come and why he came after the demolition had took place, one month later!

It is believed that the demolition was carried out so as to create a road for the Kenya Airforce to carry patrols on its territory.
The MP stated," the structures were demolished illegally by the Kenya Air Force. No notice was given before the demolition took place and this isnt right. I will get to the bottom of this and know why the demolition was carried out."
The area MP promised to pay a visit to the area each month. What residents hope is that a quick solution will be developed really soon to curb their growing problems. There is still a possible demolition of the Kitui area that still looms on the heads of the residents.
